Blast From The Past

I’ve been making music and touring for almost 14 years. That’s a long time :) and along the way life intersects with some of those precious people who heard me sing as a kid, teen or early in my career. Last night was no exception. I did a family event at Christ Fellowship in Palm Gardens, FL. I did a concert or two there in probably 1998 or 1999….some of the same staff members are still at the church. A lady came up to me and said “when I was in middle school you came and did a concert here. I bought the CD then and I’m buying it tonight too.” This woman is now 25, married with 2 kids. Her kids experienced the family concert last night. As she walked away and I teared up I was reminded life is full of journeys and circles. I am blessed beyond words to make music and be able to share that music with others. When my life intersects with these blast from the past it’s like little postcards to remind me of where I’ve been and where God has me now. A wonderful reminder to journey on serving God and loving others.

Dale Hudson is the children’s pastor at Christ Fellowship. I knew him way back when he was at FBC Springdale, AR. He was one of the first people ever to have me do a concert for their preteen group. He and his family went to my wedding. We’ve stay in touch over the years and I’m so glad.

Never take for granted the relationships in your life. Wherever you are today and whatever you do choose to love God and serve Him with all your heart. You never know when you might come across someone who knew you when and you showed them God’s love through your life.

I am blessed and extremely grateful!
Always,

Yancy

Where I’ve Been And Where I’m Going

So it’s been awhile. I spent two fantastic weeks on the road in the Dallas, TX area. I did two weeks of camp at Mt. Lebanon Camp and then was a part of 4th of July festivities at Family Worship Center in McKinney and then a weekend of worship and worship team training at Spring Creek Church in Garland. Everything is bigger and grander in Texas (especially the size of their bridges and overpasses) and it was a fantastic two weeks on the road. Saw lots of old friends and made some new ones. It was a blast!

I came home for a few short days and then headed up to the beautiful Lexington, KY for the CMX . It was a great 2 days of hanging out, sharing ideas, meeting new friends and the first ever performance of a new song “Make It Loud”. It was an awesome experience to sing the new tune for an audience for the first time….oh and it was my birthday too which made it even more fun. When I wasn’t working I was getting my favorite ice cream in all the world! Yes, I said WORLD. “Graeter’s ice cream” It is Heaven on earth….at least in my humble opinion.

This week I’m up in Rushville, NY right on Lake Canandaigua. I have a beautiful view of the lake outside my cottage and am enjoying the opportunity of leading worship and encouraging kids during their summer camp with the Family Life Network.

I mentioned getting to do a new song live for the first time “Make It Loud”. My new CD will release in October and I am sooooo excited for you to hear these new songs. The CD officially has a name it’s Stars, Guitars & Megaphone Dreams. I’ll have some pre-order info for you soon here on yancynotnancy.com but until then here’s a few pictures hard at work in the studio during the making of the new CD.

I’ll be in touch soon. Hope your summer has been a happy one!

Yancy Signs On For Her Fourth SuperStart! Tour

It’s official. Yancy will be back fall 2010/spring 2011 with SuperStart! leading worship. SuperStart! provides a safe environment for preteen students to learn and grow in their relationships with their friends, their leaders, and most importantly with God. Throughout the event, preteens will encounter Christ through high-energy worship, interactive teaching, and small groups all designed with their needs in mind. When you bring your preteen students to SuperStart! you can be sure that they will leave with not only a great weekend experience, but also the teachings and foundation to further amplify Christ’s call on their lives to become Kingdom Workers.

This is Yancy’s fourth year to be the worship leader for these events. Yancy says “I’m so excited to be back out this year to lead worship at SuperStart! Each event is so fun and rewarding to be a part of. I encourage pastors and leaders to bring your 4th, 5th or 6th grade students out. It will be a life changing weekend for sure!”

For this year’s tour dates go to: http://www.ciy.com/superstart/tour-info/dates-and-locations/

The Feeling of Ah….

Wow, the past couple months have been busy. This past weekend I completed the spring leg of the SuperStart tour, and was leading worship. It was a blast being on the tour for the third year. The Lads were out with us too. If you haven’t heard of The Lads check them out at www.theladsband.com In addition to Super Start I’ve been in a host of churches doing special Sunday morning experiences or family concerts. It’s always a joy to be invited to churches and share my music. Last week I was in San Diego at the Children’s Pastors Conference. A Pastor walked up and handed me a card from the kids at his church thanking me for the song “Shout!”. So humbling to get to do what I do and be a small part of the listener’s experience and journey to Christ. I am very, very blessed.

It’s now officially spring and- wow. Everything from 60 degree weather to snow storms this past weekend here across the US. I’m excited to be heading back out west to Sunny southern California this week for a little R&R. I’m so excited to have some down time in one of my favorite places. I’ll be at South Hills Church in Corona this Sunday too so if you’re in the area. Come out…I’ll be leading worship for the main service. When I return home I’m going to be hitting the ground hard writing and planning my next record. I plan to be back in the studio during the month of May. I can’t wait to record some new songs and get back out there on the road to share the music!

Back to the topic of spring. A friend of mine was doing some cleaning and restructuring a few weeks back and posted a twitter message that said “Amazing liberation comes from throwing away junk you’ve been keeping. True spiritually too.” That really stuck out at me. It’s easy for us to see that our closet can’t possibly hold anything else or see a mess that we know needs cleaning. Every day we’re home we see the reality of the situation. Often times it’s a lot less likely that we notice the same thing happening in our spirits. It might be the hardening of our heart. It could be some hurts that we’re holding onto repeatedly scratching the scab off the wound instead of letting the hurt be healed the One who wants to heal us. There could be some bad habits that you need to overcome. Guess what, we can have a spiritual spring cleaning. Start by examining your heart, life and actions. If you need to grab a pen and paper and make a list. Just like cleaning the garage or a closet. Make a “keep pile” and a “trash pile”. Look at what you need to let go of. Pray and ask God for His help to get rid of the dirt in your spirit. Ask Him to help you each day to choose right things and overcome evil with good.

Until next time….keep on dreaming big dreams. Our God is big and has a plan for you!

YANCY
